The Bilingual Schoolhouse

Branding + Website
PROJECT DETAILS
The Bilingual Schoolhouse was a project very near and dear to my heart. My son attended the school for a year before the pandemic hit. I love all the teachers at the school, and the director is one of a kind. When the school temporarily closed during the pandemic lockdown, the director reached out to me to see what could be done to create a digital platform for parents to be able purchase virtual learning lessons. Their original site that existed did not have e-commerce capabilities. Additionally, a formal brand with a color palette, font selection, imagery, etc. — hadn’t been established yet. So, my objective with this project was to design an official logo and brand that was colorful, playful and fun and to develop a website that matched.
For the color scheme, we went with muted primary colors given it’s a preschool. For the logo, I knew I wanted to come up with a design that had a symmetrical element to it, signifying the two languages spoken at the school (Spanish & English). I also wanted to make it shape-themed because to give it a playful look. The result was a blue, green and red monogram placed on a circle (signifying the colors of the earth with the universal color for love in the middle). Everything about the design for this business is intentional — even the shapes that have uneven borders to make it appear as if it is kid-drawn art.
