This project was a bit different from the normal type of project I take on. But, I knew I wanted to be a part of it because the book subject was so special to me. ‘If Mommy’s Being Honest’ is a book written by the talented, Allie Hamel, about motherhood. Most mothers would most likely resonate with this book as it is a beautiful tribute to how hard but beautiful motherhood is. And, for mothers who have experienced postpartum depression or anxiety, they would not only resonate with the book but they would likely find it healing. Allie’s words are encouraging and comforting. They’re a reminder that despite the sleepless nights and difficult waves of emotions many women feel after the birth of a child — there is beauty and hope in the hardships.

I met Allie years ago when her husband, my former colleague, introduced his fiancée to our marketing team. Fast forward a few years later, both Allie and I became fast friends over social media when I discovered that she too had dealt with postpartum depression/anxiety after the birth of her son. Little did I know, she was working on writing a children’s book that was for both baby and mom. In 2019, she reached out to me to see if I would be interested in helping her design the book. The illustrations are done by the extremely talented Jana Bloom. I cannot take credit for the beautiful words written or the illustrations. But, I am honored that I was able to contribute in a small way by designing out the book and working with the publisher to get it ready for the printer.
